Wichita, Kansas

Elijah Fanning, 27, was sentenced Tuesday to 25 months in prison in connection with the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Nicholas Aldridge in June 2025. He will also serve 12 months of post-release supervision.

Fanning was originally booked on charges including second-degree murder, criminal discharge of a firearm, and criminal possession of a weapon. He was sentenced following a plea agreement.

On June 29, 2025, Wichita police responded to the 2700 block of W. 2nd St. N. around 2:30 p.m. and found Aldridge suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died. Fanning was arrested the following day and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail. The case remains part of ongoing efforts by Wichita police to address gun violence in the city.
